The most overlooked writing tool might be the one you learned to use first.
I’m talking about pencil and paper.
If you want to more impactful copy, try writing your first draft by hand.
Yep, it's slower—but that's the point.
When you handwrite your drafts, you:
Choose words more intentionally
Feel the natural rhythm of your sentences
Cut filler phrases before they hit the page
Connect more deeply with your message
The “tactile experience” creates different neural pathways, which can lead to more authentic, persuasive writing poised to convert.
So yeah, handwrite your next important piece and let me know how it goes!

Must-Read Articles
How to Build Superfans (via Eli Weiss)
Why I recommend it 👉 It is possible to create memorable customer experiences by breaking that typical “transactional” mold. Eli Weiss shares two personal experiences that demonstrate this and then offers several easy, low-cost ways brands can create similar “wow” moments. Whether you work in-house or at an agency, there’s something here for you.
22 One-Sentence Stories That Will Emotionally Charge Your Marketing (via Crazy Egg)
Why I recommend it 👉 Stories sell, right? But the common misconception is that stories require commitment, even in marketing. Well, not always. Adam Kreitman says all you need to do is focus on the hopes, fears, and desires of your customers. The length of your story doesn’t matter. And you know, he’s right. Here’s proof.
The 2025 Advertising and Marketing Report (via Marketing Brew)
Why I recommend it 👉 In 2025, marketers are focusing on balancing brand awareness and customer acquisition to drive growth (i.e. a lot of top of funnel stuff). While many will stick to familiar channels like paid social and search, there’s a push to explore new options in order to create a more diverse marketing mix. Read more about it here.

AMERICAN GIANT
Format: Email
Why I like it 👉 This campaign introduced AG’s spring collection, but notice how it didn’t show ANYTHING from the collection. Instead, they made you want to click the link to view the 40+ new products. It’s a great way to leverage curiosity to drive clicks.
FLUX FOOTWEAR
Format: Email
Why I like it 👉 I believe this is a browse abandon email, as I recall looking at their running shoes prior to receiving it. But they know I’m at least in the “product aware” stage of my customer journey, so the way they present their running shoe speaks to the needs I have to get me to the next stage (”most aware”). (GIF in the hero, which is why the image appears broken)
HOLLOW
Format: Email
Why I like it 👉 This was another great product feature email. They target their ideal customer’s core problem with the subject line, then throughout the remainder of the email, show how this product can help the customer overcome said problem. The social proof/customer review is icing on the cake.
HARRY SHAW GOLF
Format: Video
Why I like it 👉 I’ll be honest, I didn’t watch the video. But I thought this headline was a 10/10. It communicate a clear benefit with a minimal time commitment on my part.
